Michigan's Wild Style
2016 – Bay – ASPC 167416
Co-owned with Sophie Monchicourt, So Chic Miniatures & Shetlands (France)
Michigan’s Wild Style – barn name Style – is our latest addition to the show team. She is a Modern American Shetland Pony. Sophie Monchicourt (So Chic Miniatures & Shetlands, France) and I purchased her together in July 2019. In early November she made the long journey to Europe.
Style’s sire is the Hall of Fame stallion Michigan’s Ragin Cajun. He was the 2011 Modern Halter Pony of the Year. Her dam is Michigan’s Winning Style (also Hall of Fame), a 4 x Congress Grand Champion Modern Mare and a multiple Congress Champion and Grand Champion producer.
Style goes back twice to Michigan’s Hart Breaker (HOF), Superior Sire, Pony Of The Year & 7 x Congress Grand Champion. Her full brother Michigan’s Cajun Style Hip Hop was Congress Grand Champion and National Champion. We have high hopes for our new girl to follow in the footsteps of her ancestors and siblings.
American Shetland Ponys are a rare thing in Germany. And the Modern American Shetland Ponys are even more unusual. Apart from the name, they have little in common with their sturdy ancestors from the British Isles. Rather, they are a mix of Classic American Shetland Pony and Hackney Pony. They are simply beauty in motion with animated movement and a spirited temperament. They look like a Thoroughbred or Saddlebred horse, only smaller in height. Modern American Shetland ponies excel in driving competitions such as Roadster, Fine Harness and Pleasure Driving.
