Miniature foals 2021

American Miniature Horse

It was quiet here for a long time, but really little or nothing happened due to what felt like the 10-month long winter and Corona. But now there is finally news and that in a double pack :-)! Our two foals of this year were born in May, only two days apart.

American Miniature Horse filly

Fashion kept us waiting for a long time with the birth of their first foal. After three weeks of almost sleepless nights, she gave birth to her filly on May 18th. The little one is a copy of her in every way, except for the color. This was about the one time we were hoping for a stallion, but the wish did not come true. But we are more than happy with this beautiful filly – she’s got it all!!

Magic didn’t wait very long and followed suit. Just two days after Fashion, she foaled on May 20th. Again it’s a filly, again in a special color, and I’m still puzzling whether it’s a dark buckskin or a smoky black. The icing on the cake are the four bright white stockings and the partially white tail – we have a pinto !! This little one is very different from her half-sister, more in mini type, but super cute and very alert and agile.

Both births were almost textbook deliveries and the foals are doing well. Unfortunately it was and is so cold the whole time that the two of them are still with blankets on. But that doesn’t stop them from racing across the pasture – a spectacle that I could watch for hours.

The sire of the two foals is EBF John’s Extasy, a very good and successful little Cremello Pinto stallion. This color is always a matter of taste, but in combination with the solid colored dark mares it is the jackpot. Nonetheless, the two foals are likely to be offered for sale as we unfortunately cannot keep all of the horses.
