This year’s very hot and sunny June offered two miniature horse shows with just one week apart. The EUSAM Dutch Open in Aalten are almost a compulsory event by now. The fact that it is a triple point show is of course an incentive to participate and suffer through heat or rain, depending on the weather at that day.
Two of our minis – Fashion and Fleurie – were entered for the show. Between them they shared several first and second places. Gem is probably pregnant and was cancelled from the show. We did not want to put any stress on her with transport and being out in the showring in the heat all day long. Fashion did not compete in the Liberty class for safety reasons. Considering the small mini-sized fence around the ring, that was certainly a good decision. I was already seeing her galloping home to France in my mind’s eye ;-). So, for her and Jules, there was only the Halter class with a first place, the Junior Champion and then Reserve Grand Champion mare behind Fleurie.
Fleurie – shown by Veronika – was at her best, although we did not train so much. But she is “naturally slim” and it does not take much work to get her into show condition. She also has a really good mind. Entering the Hunter class without much of a warm-up was no problem for her. She was first in this class as well as in the Eusam Liberty over.
She also did extremely well in both EUSAM EBBO mares over and AMHR Open Mares Over. In both categories she was awarded Grand Champion mare over. And as the absolute highlight of the day she won AMHR Supreme Champion over!!!
One week after Aalten, the “Magical Mini Show” of the IMHC took place in Belgium. We took only Fashion and she was again presented by Jules Ancelin. She won the Liberty over and became AMHR Reserve Grand Champion mare over. The show was set up this time by a new team. Everything was excellently organized with lovely decorations and fantastic prices.
